NOTES FOR VOBSTER

Vobster is a small hamlet to the west of Mells and was probably founded to house clothworkers, as the earliest fulling mills were in their vicinity.

Subsequently the area was dominated by quarries and colleries, all now disused.

Vobster became a seperate parish to Mells in 1852.
